I freaking adore these two. I had the absolute best time hanging out with them in their little bungalow while they drank coffee and chatted about life. I always enjoy connecting with couples and learning their stories as we work together.
These two met because their families had known each other for a long time, but they didn’t truly connect until she moved away for work. She spent a few years abroad and they started talking more + more. That little spark flourished despite the distance and the rest is history. What is so cool about that story is that you really have to focus on building a friendship if you’re long distance because it limits the ability to rely on chemistry. In some ways, I think that truly tests if you’re compatible when you subtract the physical side for a time. I think that really shines through with them. You can see the chemistry as clearly as you can see the stars in the desert sky, but you can also see that deep bond of friendship. It’s downright inspirational!
After enjoying coffee on the porch, we opted to stay in and make good use of the huge windows looking out toward the greenery. One of my favorite things to happen in engagement photography lately is these intimate, in home photo shoots. There’s just something about cuddling up indoors that lends to really beautiful images.
And seriously, I love couples who are down to have a little fun and get silly with each other!
Seriously, this space is unreal gorgeous. The fun part about shoots like this is that you don’t necessarily have to use your home. If you’ll be in Hawaii and really want to get a little indoor and outdoor session planned, Airbnbs or certain hotel rooms are really beautiful and can work so well. This little bungalow is an Airbnb and I was so impressed with it! There are a lot of pretty spaces for things like this anywhere you can imagine. I’m also always happy to help with planning, so make sure to reach out if you’d like to create something like this!
