As far as birthdays go, this one was aaahhhhmazing. Brad + Cynthia chose to elope atop the cliffs of Yosemite National Park and I got to shoot alongside one of my favorite photographers in my favorite place. I mean, what could be better?! If every year I could celebrate my birthday capturing Yosemite elopements, I’d be set for life.
We started the morning with a first look at Glacier Point. The sunrise here literally never disappoints, but on this day it managed to be even more magical… I didn’t know that was possible!
I am fairly certain I could stare at Half Dome all day and not grow tired of the view. Seeing the sun peek from behind a rock that looks astonishingly like the number 7 to me is super rad!
After adventuring around Glacier Point, we headed over to Taft Point for a sweet little ceremony. But you basically always have to pit stop at this bend in the road on the way… it has one of the best views in the world. No matter how many times I come around this bend, I feel this pull and power … I’m honestly just surprised I don’t drive right off thanks to being distracted hahaha
The hike out to Taft is such a pretty thing… it’s easy to feel like a kid in a candy shop here.
And when you get there, it’s impossible not to feel like a little grain of sand in this big, big world.
All of this, though, it pales a little in comparison to the heart-felt vows that Brad + Cynthia exchanged up on these cliffs. Their words tangled with the soft breeze to create a pretty melody that filled the valley.
Then we popped champagne, because you have to when you’re celebrating a love like this.
I’ll always cherish being able to spend a birthday this way. Thanks to Will Khoury for letting me tag along to capture this!
