Kauai Wedding Photography makes my island heart happy ♡ there is just so much to see, so much to capture, and so many beautiful landscapes on this island! On this day, I was honored to capture an intimate beachside wedding in Poipu with close friends + family taking in views at Shipwreck beach. Their day started by venturing up onto the cliffs off the beach for a moment to themselves. Tiffany + Adam wanted to share a first look above the cerulean waters and we even spied a few whales off the coast while up top!
First Look at Shipwreck Beach
First looks always make for such a sweet time on an intimate wedding day. It allows for couples to be intentional about stealing away a moment before standing in front of their closest family + friends to say “I do.” I love how these moments always lend to such intimacy. Some couples choose just to be in one another’s company, others might pray together, and some read their vows privately to share the moment just between the two of them. Any way this time is spent, it always seems to ready them for the ceremony in such a beautiful way.
Ceremony on the Beach
As Tiffany’s dad walked her down the aisle of tropical plants toward the ceremony on the beach, it just felt incredibly special to be in that moment. The way the light and shadow fell on their path perhaps a representation of the way relationships have ups and downs that lead you to stronger, closer days like this one. I’ve always admired the strength of couples as they navigate life together, falling deeper in love even with the shadows that can accompany the light.
Their sweet ceremony performed by officiant Frieda Gayle brought tears, laughter, and so much joy. They exchanged vows and rings surrounded by their closest people.
It was the moment after the ceremony that really hit my heart, though. After walking back down the aisle, Adam swept Tiffany into this tight embrace. They held onto each other, tears flowing, for a few moments as if there were no one else on the beach. Maybe in the world. It was seriously so sweet to see! After that hug, family + friends surrounded them with even more love.
Sunset Portraits
With the ceremony all finished up, their family + friends headed off to dinner at The Beach House while Tiffany + Adam hung out with me to capture a little more of the beauty of Kauai and their love. No Hawaiian wedding is complete without a picture with a palm tree haha so that was our first stop.
Then, we went back up to the cliffs at Shipwreck Beach to soak up some of the warm Kauai sun. The views this day were so incredible!
As the sun started to go down over Poipu, we ventured further down the cliffs to get a better view of the sunset. The setting sun brought out all the colors of Tiffany’s bouquet so beautifully.
As the last of the sun poured out over the beach, we walked back down to spend a few moments playing by the sea now that the light had softened. I always love to give couples a few moments to just enjoy each other and play around together, embracing the feelings of the day. Tiffany + Adam were so cute dancing around and soaking up the last rays of sunshine as the day came to an end.
And then it was off to join their family + friends for dinner!
